Each residence which currently uses “robo” cans for garbage collection will be provided with a blue “robo” can for single-stream recycling.  Single- stream includes all rinsed glass and plastic jars and bottles, food container cans, newspapers, corrugated cardboard , magazines, brown bags, catalogs, junk mail, paperback books and empty non-toxic aerosol cans – recycled together in your new blue “robo” container.  Separation of recyclables is no longer necessary - never tie, bag or bundle recycling or use a plastic bag as a liner.  This new can will be the same size as your trash “robo” can.

• Distribution:  Recycling “robo” cans will be distributed during the month of October.
• Projected Start date:  Collection will begin in designated areas during the third week of October.
• Collection days:  Recycling will be picked up twice per month.   New schedules will be posted by October 1, 2010 on the Township website at www.tomsrivertownship.com or call 732-255-1000 X 8108.
• Reminder:  Rinse all jars, cans and bottles prior to placing them in your new “robo” can to minimize odors.
• Additional information will be distributed with your new robo can.
