Christie Administration Rolls Out Plan For Second Round Of Federal Sandy Recovery Funds PDF Print E-mail

Details How State Will Utilize $1.46 Billion, Opens Public Comment Period

Trenton, NJ – The Christie Administration today unveiled a proposed amendment to the New Jersey Disaster Recovery Action Plan detailing how the state will spend $1.46 billion in federal Sandy recovery funds. The state will continue rebuilding Sandy-damaged homes and rental housing, supporting hardest hit and financially strained communities, while also financing infrastructure resiliency projects throughout New Jersey to protect the state from future storms. This is the second round of federal Community Disaster Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery funds allocated to New Jersey by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

FEMA agrees to change some “V” zones in Toms River PDF Print E-mail

As a result of Toms River Township’s continuing efforts to review and monitor the recent and ongoing changes to the FEMA Flood Maps, Mayor Thomas F. Kelaher is pleased to announce that the Township Engineer has received a response to his latest letter to FEMA from December 17, 2013. Robert Chankalian’s letter, among other things, requested that FEMA revisit some areas along the bay front where the “V” zone, or wave velocity line, did not follow the bulkhead. This, in Chankalian’s opinion, erroneously resulted in some homes being placed in the V zone. Mayor Kelaher stated that this would result in significantly higher insurance premiums for those residents.

A number of scholarships will be awarded to the pool of applicants from the 4 local High Schools.

Description for eligibility: Any senior who is planning to attend a college or university majoring in law enforcement. ( whose goal is to become a police officer)
