Safeguard Your Pets
The State of New Jersey requires that proof of a valid rabies shot be presented, in order to obtain a license for a pet. Licenses may be purchased in the Health Department office or by mail.
Dog Licenses
The license term is January 1st to December 31st. First-time licenses can be issued after the rabies shot. Rabies shots must be valid for the duration of the license term. Access the dog license form (PDF).

Free Rabies Shots in Ocean County
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the free rabies clinic at the Township has been cancelled. Clinics are scheduled in other towns throughout the year. Residents can attend any free rabies clinic within Ocean County. The Ocean County Health Department has a calendar of free rabies clinic dates and locations. The Ocean County Animal Facility in Jackson offers free rabies shots. Call (732) 657-8086 to schedule an appointment for a free rabies shot for your pet.
