Senior Services
Making a positive difference in the lives of our Senior residents by improving access to health, education, social and supportive services thereby helping them live with dignity and independence
Whether you are interested in socializing or getting fit, learning new things or staying healthy, the Toms River Senior Outreach Center has something for everyone. Our programs are available for anyone over the age of 60. For those that enjoy physical activities, our fitness classes may fit your needs. We offer Zumba, Exercise, Tai Chi, Yoga and line dancing.
While we offer the above activities, our Senior Outreach Program provides information and assistance on many important issues that our seniors face today – Medicare, RX coverage, Medical Transportation, Nutrition, Health Screenings and applying for various benefit programs are just some of the areas we can assist you with. At your request, we will conduct a one on one session with you to determine if you are eligible for government assistance programs and assist with the completion of these applications to help you obtain the help you need.
Referrals under the Caregiver Support Program can be provided to a family member or any unpaid individual who is caring for an elderly adult 60 years of age or older. This may be a spouse, parent, friend or neighbor. If you are helping with food shopping, transportation, preparing meals, housecleaning, managing medication or other tasks, then you are a Caregiver! Contact us for resources available that may assist you in caring for your loved one.

File of Life
Why Seniors should have a File of Life
Medical emergencies can happen anytime. When they do, there is confusion, panic and urgency. Paramedics arrive on the scene with no information about the person in need. Seconds count – they can make the difference between life and death. Does the patient have prior medical conditions? Allergies? What medications are they taking? Who do they want us to call? How do we contact their family or friends?
File of Life puts these answers at their fingertips. It allows first responders to immediately begin the best possible treatment, notify loved ones, and pass this vital data on to awaiting physicians at the emergency room. File of Life has already saved thousands of lives. It is an absolute asset to emergency preparedness, and peace of mind, for every household and community across the nation.
All participants in the program will receive a magnetic holder that is placed on the refrigerator. Participants place emergency information including medical history, medications and contact info. In the event of an emergency, Toms River Police, EMS and other emergency personnel will be able to utilize the information in the event you cannot communicate with them. All participants will receive a window sticker that tells emergency responders that you are a File of Life household. The program is free. For more information, please call Senior Outreach Services at 732-341-1000 extensions 8208 or 8460.
